SpamEater Pro from High Mountain Software is our number one ranked product and "TopTenREVIEWS Gold Award" winner, this product is excellent Spam Filtering product that works independently of your inbox. It supports any of the standard POP3 mailboxes, and with the use of 3rd party applications you can configure SpamEater Pro to work with Hotmail, Yahoo, and other web based accounts. SpamEater Pro supports an online blacklist databases, these databases are maintained and updated daily. It also has a built-in rule set that will also allow you to customize your own set of rules for your particular needs.

Feature Set:
SpamEater Pro is one of the most feature rich spam filtering packages available on the market. There are eight filtering categories: message subject, message body, approved senders, blocked senders, message header fields, proper form, blacklist, and country code. Each one of these categories can be fine-tuned to aide in the fight against spam. Each category, except approved and blocked senders, has pre-set filters that you can fine-tune to your own needs by either keeping them flagged to be eaten ( E ) by SpamEater Pro, flagged ( F ) for your review, or accepted ( A ) to your email account. You can also custom-make your own filters to add to the list.
Ease of Use:
One of the nice benefits of this product is its ease-of-use. This product works separately from your email client detecting spam before it ever reaches your inbox. You will, however, need to remember to keep you email client closed to allow SpamEater Pro to work efficiently.
Ease of Installation:
This product requires an additional step during installation; it will not automatically detect your email accounts. You must set up each account separately. It is important that you know your incoming and outgoing mail server in advance.
Stability:
We didn't encounter any problems or errors when we used this product.
Customization:
With the "Add Filter" option, you can customize your own filtering rules. The rules fields include: comments, content-type, delivered-to, from, and many more. You can also set your filtering rules to watch for specific content, select how you want the message to be handled with the eat, flag, or except setting.
Spam Filtering:
SpamEater Pro uses a powerful set of filter rules to block spam from entering your inbox. It has a user-friendly interface with built in rules and will also allow you to create your own rules. With periodic updates, SpamEater Pro filters 90% of spam.
Summary:
Overall, SpamEater Pro is an excellent spam-filtering program that detects and eliminates spam from your inbox. It was one of the most accurate and easy to use packages we reviewed. SpamEater Pro can also work with AOL and Yahoo web-based email accounts if you have Web2Pop or IzyMail. SpamEater Pro will embed graphical images before they get to your inbox and allow you to view the message header and the raw message itself to allow you the option of letting this particular email with an image into your inbox.
