SpamCatcher has the potential to be a great Spam filtering package, but lacks the accuracy of our higher ranked solutions such as EmailProtect. They do have automatic online updates and incoming messages are filtered using a set of rules that you set up with SpamCatcher.
With SpamCatcher you can determine how you want incoming messages checked. You can also enable rules, flag Spam, or even enable or disable notification of updates.
Their editable categories include approved options that will let you add, delete, import or even export senders, IP address, and "my email addresses". The block options include senders, countries, IP addresses, languages, or public blacklist categories.
SpamCatcher integrates directly into your Outlook our Outlook express email client adding an approved button, block button, and settings button. As messages come into your inbox, you approve or block the message by either sender, domain, or even send a report to SpamCatcher Network.
This product is very easy to install. No problems.
We didn't encounter any problems or errors when we used this product. However, since it's integrated with Outlook, it may affect the speed of your Outlook application.
SpamCatcher relies partly on a community approach to determine what Spam is. You can customize rules that will block or allow specific addresses or even domains.
SpamCatcher uses a filtering network that includes Fuzzy Logic, Heuristics, Bayesian analysis, Source analysis and Artificial Intelligence defense systems. Since it will partially depend on the accuracy of these community networks it may get better in time. Our review showed that it did not filter as accurately as some of the other products we reviewed.
Overall, SpamCatcher does not identify a good deal of spam and the filters are not as customizable as other solutions.
