Spam Killer is a relatively effective anti-spam program and it's easy to use. Spam Killer has incorporated a fairly new feature for anti-phishing. This is a feature that many other programs have not yet started using and it still in the early stages. Spam Killer also allows the user to add accounts and customize filters to be very specific. This is great for households with one computer and many users.
Feature Set:
Spam Killer does have several filter options to help fine-tune your spam filtering needs and allows easy updates from its main menu. It also supports Hotmail and Exchange accounts, not just POP3.
Ease of Use:
For Spam Killer to be effective you must remember to turn off any automatic features from your client that checks your email system.
Ease of Installation:
This product is very easy to install. No problems.
Stability:
We didn't encounter any problems or errors when we used this product. However, we did notice a performance hit to your machine. It appears to be slow opening the email messages.
Customization:
One of Spam Killer's best features are its customization tools. You can easily add email addresses to your whitelists and blacklists and customize specific filters. You can also set up different settings for different email address you may use.
Spam Filtering:
Spam Killer did an average job at blocking real Spam and allowing legitimate emails through. It takes a lot of customization to get to where it's helpful.
Summary:
Overall we were pleased at the features and design of Spam Killer, but it does lack a lot of the necessary tools you would like to see it have to help you fine-tune and eliminate the junk mail and spam you get daily. Spam Killer does have one annoying feature included in Spam Killer that you are unable to remove, and that is the McAfee Security Center, which is a part of the Spam Killer program.
